DOCHULA
Overview
Dochula pass is one of the most prominent and beautiful passes of Bhutan. It is located at 3050m above sea level and 45 minutes of drive from Thimphu towards the central Bhutan Highway will reach one to Dochula. Dochula offers visitors, the outstanding view of Himalayan Mountain Range, Villages, temples and monasteries at distance. The best time to reach Dochula is at dawn when clouds are thin and valley is visible for viewing. One can also enjoy the beautiful sun rising from Dochula. Dochula pass has 108 stupas known as Druk Wangyel Chorten. There is also Monastery just above the Stupa known as Drukwangyel Lhakhang. Both Monastery and Stupas were built by Her Majesty, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. Stupa was built in the memory of those Bhutanese lives lost during the war and Druk Wangyel Monastery was built in honor of HM fourth King of Bhutan, King Jigme Singye Wangchuk.

Every year, Druk Wangyel Festival is held towards the end of year. The Druk Wangyel Tshechu was founded in recent year by one of the popular Bhutanese Historian Dasho Karma Ura. Over thousands of people attend the Druk Wangyel Festival every year.
